"Art is contemplation. It is the pleasure of the mind which searches into nature and which there divines the spirit of which Nature herself is animated. "

Below is the press release sent to KFR Times:
Kingfisher Creative, a nonprofit community organization promoting the arts, is sponsoring a benefit concert for the May 24th tornado victims. Funds raised from the event will assist those who suffered losses in the Piedmont and Cashion area. “Some of these families lost everything, houses destroyed down to the foundation. Kingfisher Creative felt a benefit concert would give support to the tornado victims and give the community an opportunity to give back” said Scott Osborn, director for the event. The First Baptist Church of Piedmont said there were over a 146 victims affected by this disaster.

The benefit concert called “Twister Relief” will showcase red dirt artist Stoney LaRue and the Arsenals. Stoney LaRue has a loyal following of fans from all over including a huge base in Austin Texas. He has graciously offered to take time off of his busy tour schedule to play for our benefit. Stony started his music career in Stillwater Oklahoma noted for the birth of “Red Dirt Music”. Red dirt music is defined by some as country music with an attitude, but Stoney is not that easy to define. He is a dynamic performer, better live than on his recordings. It is the live shows that have created his loyal following.

The concert is set for July 17th at Homier Field in Kingfisher, OK. The tickets can be purchased in advance at TicketStorm.com or the Kingfisher Chamber of Commerce offices for $20.00 or pay at the door. The event will open at 6:00pm with bands starting at 7:00pm. There are three local warm up bands, acoustic music from Buffalo Steamboat and great country music from City Moon and the Washita River Boys who have opened for Tracy Lawerence, Gene Watson, Diamond Rio, Tracy Byrd and more! Alicia Pitts will sing our National Anthem. 93.3 JakeFM will also be there to help get the crowd warmed up. There will also be concessions for the event, so bring your appetite. If you or your business would like to be a sponsor for this event contact Scott Osborn at (405) 255-7666 or email scotto @ rocketmail.com There will be a drawing for free tickets to those who “like” us on our Kingfisher Creative facebook page. Do not miss this opportunity to help your neighbor and listen to some great music.
